The four main subjects I am focusing on are education, jobs, family and security.  

 

I have lived on the East Mesa of Las Cruces for seven years, with my wife Bernadette, but am not a native of New Mexico. I was born and raised in Philadelphia. After graduating high school I came out here to try my hand at college at New Mexico State University. But college and I were not compatible, at least not at that time.

           After two semesters at NMSU I returned to Philadelphia and began a 25 year career as a Philadelphia Policeman, 10 years on street duty and 15 years as a Police Diver. 

           I think what motivated me then to become a Policeman, motivates me now in pursuing a legislative position as a New Mexico State Senator. I abhor a bully. I've come in contact with many bullies throughout my life. I managed to hold my own when it came to dealing with bullies in the school yard or the ball-field. Then, as a policeman I faced a different type of bully: murderers, rapists, hold-up men and burglars. But now I face more dangerous bullies, ones that can destroy a whole country and culture. These bullies speak nice words but their ideology is destructive. They are either deceived by an evil hierarchy or are corrupt in themselves.  They have sworn to protect our citizens and uphold their oath of allegiance to our US Constitution and that of our State of New Mexico, but they do not.

           In the past, I was like many good folks, satisfied with complaining about politics but never really doing anything about it. But now, my faith in GOD and a deep dive into the true meaning of GOD'S word, the Bible, forces me to get involved. The only way to change the destructive direction of our country is TO get involved. Not everyone has been called to enter public office, but we are all called in one way or another. I consider my commitment to run for office, a small sacrifice compared to some.

           Our US Constitution demands that we follow GOD'S law. In the beginning words of Our Declaration of Independence "…all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…"

           Life is the first of the unalienable rights. We hear of Pro-choice. But whose choice? The mother's choice to be sure. But what about the baby's choice? She or he can't speak for themselves. So who, if not us, will speak for the innocent and defenseless… the unborn?

           I certainly do not judge any woman who has made the decision to abort her baby. I can't imagine what pressures she felt in making that decision. But…did she have all the facts as to the dangers to her health--  physical, emotional and spiritual? Did she have the support of a loving partner, family and community? Or was she driven to this decision by a partner that lacked the moral courage to face up to his responsibility? Did her family think it was in her, and their, best interest to eliminate this greatest of responsibilities? Did she feel alone in this dark moment of her life, with no other way out? I have no doubt that in her moments of reflection she is suffering. She needs our understanding and support. GOD will forgive her, we can forgive her. The challenge is, will she forgive herself? I hope so.

           So what can we do as Christian Soldiers? We can fight the evil that promotes such atrocities. I stand with many other soldiers in this fight and I hope you will too. We have the power to eliminate the scourge of abortion from our communities. If we elect Legislators that believe in The Sanctity of Life, we can defeat that evil which permeates our communities.

           It is not only one party that promotes life. There are a few candidates in the Democratic Party that, in the 2019 legislative session, defeated the bill promoting abortion. The challenge is to know the Legislators and their voting record on this and other issues. Does their vote reflect our Christian values? Do the candidates' beliefs align with yours and follow GOD'S Commandments? It will take some effort on your part to seek out the truth to these questions. But I can assure you, from my own personal experience, "The Truth will set you Free!" It is a wonderful and liberating feeling to know that you are on the right side, the side of TRUTH.

           Statistics have shown that 50% of Church Communities are registered voters. And…of that 50%, only half vote. That means, only 25% of Church goers vote.

           If all people of faith register… understand the Candidates' track records, if they are in office… the platforms of those not yet elected… and then vote their conscience, we can elect only those Legislators that truly reflect our Christian and moral values.

           I now realize that there is an evil at work in our world and in our communities. That evil has deceived the good people whom we call our neighbors and friends. It is our job to stand up to that evil and shine the light of TRUTH on the deception that has corrupted the minds and hearts of our fellow citizens.

           The first step in saving our Country is to elect Legislators that will propose and support legislation that reflects our conservative Christian values.  And the first step in voting is to get registered.

           My platform has four main tenets: Education, Jobs, Family and Security. They all relate to each other.  

           Education is essential, not only of our children, but of our adults as well. Our fellow citizens must be aware of the political climate, knowledgeable as to the issues and the candidates and then vote accordingly.

           After a solid Elementary School education, our high schoolers, with the guidance of competent advisors and community leaders, will be well able to choose their career path in the trades, apprenticeship or college. 

           With a business friendly environment, that promotes new jobs and industries in our communities, our well educated graduates will find good paying and personally rewarding jobs locally, which will keep our New Mexico families close geographically.

           Having been a policeman for 25 years, I know the need for security. There is an evil in this world and sometimes the only line of human security between us and those that would take our freedoms, our property and our very lives is our Military, Law Enforcement and First Responders. Whether they are protecting our Allies abroad, the borders of our Nation, our homes or our persons they deserve our utmost respect and support.

           The man I am running against, Bill Soules, has been the Vice-Chairman and now Chairman of the New Mexico Senate Education Committee. And New Mexico is the worst State in the country when it comes to education, Pre-K through 12th grade. I believe I can do better and I know I can't do worse.

           I believe in the sanctity of Life, born and unborn. I believe in School Choice, where the parents and community decide on where our children go to school and what they learn, not government. I believe in secure borders and legal immigration. I believe in the right to keep and bear arms. My opponent's views are totally opposite and his voting record, as a Senator, proves it.  I believe my views are in line with the majority of New Mexicans.        Free Market Capitalism is what grew this Country to its present greatness and Socialism will destroy it, if we let it. History proves that Socialism has destroyed every culture where it has been tried. That history is repeating itself right before our eyes in Venezuela.

           I am a Christian, Constitutional, Common-Sense Conservative Republican, my name is Dave Gallus and I am running for New Mexico State Senate, District 37.
